Intuition – what it is and how to trust it (YouTube interview)

There are many descriptions of intuition. Yet it’s a very personal experience and we each have our own unique way of connecting to our intuition. For me I either feel it in my gut, or a thought pops into my mind and I know it’s my intuition because I haven’t been ‘thinking’ about it, that the thought seems to appear out of nowhere.

It’s taken me quite a while to start to trust my intuition. Many years ago, a thought would pop into my mind and I’d ignore it. It could be as simple as ‘take your umbrella” or ‘best not to go’ etc. And with hindsight, every single time that thought proved true. It did rain, or I had a miserable time when I went to the event or I got lost on the way etc. So eventually, I set an intention to start listening and to act on those small intuitive thoughts, and the more I did that for the little things, the more I started to get ‘bigger’ intuitive thoughts come through.

Where does out intuition come from? Again, there are many views about this. I believe my intuition comes from my higher self or soul. In addition, we can also be open to guidance from the spirit world, but that’s for another time.

Two years ago, Catherine Wilkins (my Fractology teacher) and I were invited to do an informal interview about intuition - with Petra Williams, as part of her You Tube series called “The Red Hot Truth”. It was a fun conversation. Catherine defined intuition as that “part of our meta-system that is our inner friend”. Loved that definition. And when asked about intuitive intelligence, she responded with “when you get those intuitive impulses, it’s about knowing how to interpret them”. I got involved in a discussion about the importance of intuition in business and we veered into topics like the difference between self esteem and self confidence, and the importance of personal growth and how that can be so uncomfortable. We also discussed the connection between out intuition (right brain) and our logic (left brain); and how to increase our connection to our true self through a connection to our soul seat (or soul memory).

Irrespective of what we discussed, I feel that the most important message is that we need to act on our intuition in a way that best serves and aligns to our own true or authentic higher self (& not according to what others think we should do).
